Jim Bagley is a Senior Project Manager with Levelton Consultants Ltd specialising in hazardous materials services. Jim has extensive experience assessing and managing hazardous materials in a wide range of contexts from single family residences to major infrastructure projects.
About the topic:
WorksafeBC regulations require that before any demolition or maintenance work is conducted, a qualified person must inspect the site and identify any Hazardous Building Materials (HBM) and safely contain or remove all HBMs potentially impacted by the work. TDG regulations and BC Environmental regulations further govern the transport and disposal of hazardous materials. The presenter will provide an overview of hazardous materials in buildings, which will include: Asbestos, Lead, PCB’s, Mercury, Ozone Depleting Substances, Mould and Microbial Growth and Crystalline Silica. The presenter will address the context in which these materials are used and can be found in buildings, their health effects and the regulatory framework for each of them.
