About the Presenter:  Allan Martin, RRO, Principal – Morrison Hershfield

Allan Martin has been involved in the construction industry for over 25 years as a tradesperson, educator, contractor and consultant. Allan joined Morrison Hershfield (MH) in 2004 and brings considerable experience as a building science consultant to our Building Science group in Vancouver. Before joining MH, Allan was employed as a contractor specializing in building envelope. During this time, he oversaw the rehabilitation of podiums, walls, balconies, and roofs of numerous distressed buildings. As a tradesperson, Allan worked on a wide variety of projects including energy efficient custom homes and buildings, heritage buildings and commercial projects. Since joining MH, Allan has worked on many projects involving building envelope assessments, roofing and waterproofing, design, field review and contract administration.

Allan brings to each project excellent communication and problem solving skills, a strong commitment to client satisfaction and in-depth knowledge of envelope components and assemblies.

About the Topic:

Buildings that house swimming pools create conditions that require special design considerations to produce durable assemblies. We look at both renewals of existing buildings where poor performance and premature degradation have required replacement of assembly components, and the design of new natatoriums with improved systems to address these aggressive atmospheres.
