Policy makers around the world are looking at what impact buildings have on energy consumption. With the advent of new energy and building codes, the building industry is increasingly challenged to build more energy efficient structures while maintaining high structural, fire and safety standards. ASHRAE 90.1 explicitly calls for “ci” or continuous insulation as one strategy in improving the thermal efficiency of the building envelope. This presentation will focus on constructing energy efficient exterior walls with minimally thermally bridged claddings which meet these criteria from 2 perspectives:
Manufacturer’s Perspective: What is the Impact of Buildings? New versus Old? What is the Impact of Continuous Insulation? Changing Regulations & Mandates; What are the Possible Solutions? Code Compliance, Project Monitoring and Case Studies.
Building Engineer’s Perspective: Energy Use and More Efficient Insulation, Modes of Heat Transfer, CI Wall Design and Construction, and CI Projects Challenges and Solutions .
