About the Presenter:
Douglas Bennion is the Building Science and Code Compliance specialist for Airfoam Industries with a focus on product development, oversight of product testing and evaluation by building code agencies. With over 40 years of experience in concrete and construction experience, Douglas recently concluded a three year service as the chair of the ICFMA Technical Committee and currently sits on the ICFMA Board of Directors. Having written numerous magazine articles and technical bulletins for use by ICF installers, architects, and engineers.
About the Topic: BC research reveals ICF water and air intrusion best practices
Sponsored by BC Housing, Concrete BC and the ICF Industry, Douglas will showcase this first-of-its-kind research performed on window openings formed in ICF/Concrete walls revealing best practices for preventing water and air intrusion. After surveying nearly 20 common methods of installing windows in ICF walls, successes, and failures at both ends of the spectrum have guided researchers to best practices and how to prevent water and air intrusion across a range of building types and climate conditions. ICF expert Douglas Bennion served to spearhead this research and summarizes the results for BC BEC.
