About the Presenter: Lorne Ricketts, RDH Building Science Inc.
Lorne Ricketts is a buildings science engineer (EIT) with RDH Building Science Inc. in Vancouver. He is actively involved in forensic investigation, building monitoring, new construction, and research projects. Lorne was recently the primary author for a guide to R-22+ Effective Walls produced for the HPO and the City of Vancouver to help select and design durable assemblies that achieve increasing thermal performance requirements.
About the Topic: R-22 Walls and Insulating for the Future
R-22 thermal performance is now required by the Vancouver Building By-Law for Part 9 wall assemblies, and R-value requirements elsewhere are consistently increasing as the industry looks to construct more energy efficient buildings. Lorne will discuss various assemblies which meet the R-22 wall requirement without compromising other aspects of building enclosure performance such as moisture management, air leakage, and durability, and will also present the pros and cons of various different cladding attachment options when using exterior insulation.
