About the Presenter: Michel J. Crépeau, B.Sc., CIH, ROH, CHSC – Total Safety
Michel J. Crépeau, B.Sc., CIH, ROH, CHSC is Technical Operations Manager with Total Safety Services Inc. (Total Safety) in Burnaby, BC. He has over 30 years of local, national and international experience in occupational hygiene/health & safety and environment, and has managed the development, implementation and performance of a wide variety of EHS programs. Michel’s work experience includes federal, provincial, municipal and industrial risk assessments as well as hazard investigations. He has worked extensively in the recognition, evaluation and control of workplace occupational health hazards and frequently provides expert advice on hazardous materials assessments and remediation. Michel is registered with the Canadian Registration Board of Occupational Hygienists (ROH), certified with the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (CIH) and certified with the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CHSC). He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Chemistry) from the University of Ottawa and a Graduate Diploma (Occupational Hygiene) from McGill University.
About the topic:
Mr. Crepéau will address the regulatory amendments which come into effect Feb 1, 2015 with regard to the changes to Part 20 – Construction, Excavation and Demolition involving hazardous building materials. These changes include clarification of stakeholders’ (employer and building owners’/representatives’) responsibilities, and further explanation regarding the definition of “hazardous materials” and “qualified person.” The speaker will provide risk mitigation strategies for stakeholders, including information on how to recognize a poor quality hazardous materials survey and/or laboratory analytical results.
