DESCRIPTION:Agenda:\n11:45 – 12:00   Registration & Housekeeping\n12:00 – 12:30   Lunch\n12:30 –    1:30   Presentation and Q&A\n   1:30 –    2:00   Networking (optional) \nAbout the Presenter:\n \nGeoff Shellard – Architectural Design Manager – PNW\nGuardian Glass \nWith ten years of distinguished service in the fenestration sector\, Geoff Shellard brings a wealth of experience to the glazing industry in his role as an architectural design manager for Guardian Glass across Western Canada and the United States. Geoff is a key influencer in the glass industry with a deep understanding of the market honed through his extensive interactions with fabricators\, glaziers\, architects\, and specifiers. This experience provides him with valuable insights into both the practical challenges and the key drivers of success in the glazing industry. \nAbout the Topic:\nBird-Friendly Glass Solutions: Understanding the Fundamentals of Safe Design\nArchitecture tells us a great deal about society. In fact\, glass and glazing are used to blur the lines between inside and out\, helping elevate performance and the experiences of people. Yet while humans can use environmental cues to identify glass as a barrier\, there is growing realization that birds cannot. \nThe solution is bird-friendly glass that delivers on performance\, energy efficiency and the needs of people. This course from Guardian Glass is intended to provide the basis for a better understanding of how to recognize issues affecting the bird population while learning about best practices and design fundamentals for smarter\, safer buildings. \nUpon completion of this course\, participants will be able to:\n• Recognize the basic behavioral patterns of birds\n• Identify the four most common reasons that bird building collisions occur\n• Investigate the different types of product testing\n• Assess some available and emerging glazing solutions\n \nREGISTRATION\nPlease Note:\nAll WALK-UPS (non pre-registered attendees) must pay a blanket price of $65.00\, including Students and Members. \nRefunds:\nNo Refunds after Friday\, May 16th Noon. Refunds will be offered before May 16th less $25 admin charge. \nEducation Credits:\nThis luncheon seminar qualifies for 1.0 AIBC Core Learning Unit.
