SUMMARY:BC Housing presents Building Smart - Airtightness Testing: Diagnostics and Repair
DESCRIPTION:Applicable to both Part 9 and Part 3 buildings\, this webinar will discuss diagnostic methods in detail\, such as infrared thermography and smoke tracer testing\, and use them to compile an air leakage inventory. \nPresenters will share remediation methods and show how following a particular order of operations can prevent the need for repairs. Concepts will be illustrated with case studies and an in-depth discussion on mock-ups\, mid-construction testing\, common air leakage pathways\, and a range of critical tie-ins and details that should be considered. \nThis webinar complements the Illustrated Guide to Achieving Airtight Buildings\, authored by RDH Building Science Inc. and published in 2017 by BC Housing\, with support from BC Hydro and the City of Vancouver. \n  \nPresenters\nEinar Halbig\, BASc\, CEA \nEinar is a Principal at E3 Eco Group. Trained as a civil engineer and working as an Energy Advisor\, he has evaluated over 2\,000 existing homes and hundreds of new homes. Einar provides Building Science for New Homes training and Certified Energy Advisor training. He also serves as the Chair of the CHBA BC Technical Advisory Committee. \n  \nJames Higgins\, Building Science Technologist \nJames works across several groups at RDH\, from research and investigation in the Building Science Labs division\, to building enclosure design and construction field review in the New Buildings division. James co-led the development of the updated Building Enclosure Design Guide. \n  \nStephen Wong\, EIT \nStephen is a Building Science Consultant at Morrison Hershfield. Stephen works predominantly on larger Part 3 buildings\, involving building envelope design and field review\, building component energy modeling and thermal performance analysis. \n  \nMore Information & Registration\nLocation: Available online via a webinar\, or in person at Brix Studio\, 211 Columbia St. #102\, Vancouver\, BC V6A 2R5 \nCPD points: 3.0 \nFor More Information & Registration\, please visit BC Housing website \n.\n \n
