DESCRIPTION:This unique conference will focus on the new challenges\, ideas\, solutions and applications in green Civil Engineering. While submissions in all areas of Civil Engineering construction and practice are welcome\, priority will be given to issues related to: \n\nImpacts of climate change and mitigation strategies for Civil Engineering construction\nFuture technologies\, materials and methods for next-generation sustainable and resilient Civil Engineering constructions\nRecent developments in green buildings\, wood engineering\, smart buildings\, intelligent structures\, sustainable cities\, industrial ecology\, environmental engineering\, ground engineering and water resources\n\nThe core theme of the conference is Civil Engineering\, but multidisciplinary research activities that demonstrate the potential to solve green Civil Engineering infrastructure challenges are very much welcome. \nYoung engineers as well as established professionals\, researchers\, academicians\, and policymakers are the target participants and audiences of this inaugural conference. NHICE-01\, 2018 aims to be the melting pot of innovative ideas\, frontline technologies and industrial applications to address local and/or global Civil Engineering infrastructure challenges of the 21st century. \nNHICE-01 will be held at the picturesque campus of the University of Victoria (UVic) located on beautiful Vancouver Island in the capital of British Columbia\, Canada. DESCRIPTION:About the Presenter: Einar Halbig\, B.A.Sc.\, Energy Advisor (EA)\, E3 Eco Group Inc. \n  \nEinar Halbig has over 20 years of education and experience in residential construction. He specializes in practical solutions that make a house more efficient\, safe and comfortable. Trained as a civil engineer\, he has evaluated over 2000 existing homes across the Lower Mainland. As one of the principals of E3 Eco Group\, Einar now works with dozens of Builders and Developers on their new homes. \nPracticing what he preaches\, Einar embarked on a deep-green energy retrofit of his own house and now enjoys the many benefits of the end result. He brings an engineering background\, technical sales expertise\, and hands-on experience to the field of energy-efficiency and sustainable consulting.
