SUMMARY:Victoria Luncheon: Bid Central: A Project Delivery Solution
DESCRIPTION:About the Presenter: \nGreg Baynton is a past Director of BCBEC and his involvement in the construction industry has spanned a number of decades. As a native Victorian and tradesman Greg has built his experience in the construction industry through owning and operating trade contracting and general contracting firms on Vancouver Island. Currently Greg is the CEO for the Vancouver Island Construction Association. VICA’s primary goal is to support the construction industry and building community. From owners\, consultants\, engineers and architects to construction contractors. \nAbout the Topic: \nGreg will discuss the financial climate that our industry is experiencing and provide some insight into what we have to look forward to. The industry as a whole is experiencing many changes as a result of broader levels of competition and aggressive schedules dictated by shaken confidence in world financing. Those finding success in today’s market are likely taking advantage of everything that technology has to offer. In an effort to address internal inefficiencies VICA has merged with three other Vancouver Island construction associations. Greg will review VICA’s recent merger activity and demonstrate how the industry is collectively utilizing shared on-line tendering/bidding practices to address the needs of a changing market place. Today a significant amount of the Island’s tendering activity moves through VICA’s plan room. In an effort to increase the industry’s awareness of on-line tools available to architects\, engineers\, suppliers and trade contractors Greg will provide an overview of the BidCentral Online Planroom and describe how the service can be used to streamline the tender process and improve project communications.
