SUMMARY:Vancouver Luncheon: Facade Design For Effective Thermal Performance Addressing New Code Requirements & Options To Meet ASHRAE 90.1
DESCRIPTION:About the Presenters: John Kubassek\, Engineered Assemblies and Darren Smith\, Business Development Western Canada\, Engineered Assemblies \nJohn Kubassek founded Engineered Assemblies in 2007. A unique background with experience from the “ground up” gives John the understanding of how systems are brought together from Design to Installation.   John enjoys leading a team of the industry’s best individuals with a focus on Design\, Supply and Installations of many types of sustainable and modern Façade systems.   John’s strong values in partnership\, collaboration and value in people form the foundations upon which the company is built and continues to grow. \nDarren Smith’s passion for development and creative design are backed by 6 years in the facade industry. Darren enjoys finding creative solutions for value engineering; creating a balance between architectural vision and constructability costing. His experience includes projects of all sizes; ranging from small retrofits to large commercial projects. Since joining EA in 2013 Darren has worked on numerous projects\, naming Shannon Estates and Nanaimo Library among his favourites. \nAbout the Topic:  \nFacade Design For Effective Thermal Performance Addressing New Code Requirements & Options To Meet ASHRAE 90.1 \nAn industry dilemma was created when building codes changed. Attaining sustainable results through traditional resources is difficult and misguided. The building code changes specify higher R Values\, replacing R Value with effective R Value. To attain an effective R value one must consider the effects of thermal bridges of studs\, girts\, window frames\, etc. This presentation will provide an understanding of ASHRAE 90.1\, the importance of an effective R value\, how to reach it and how to design with thermally broken facades. \nSeminar Presentation: \n\n\n\n\nFACADE DESIGN FOR EFFECTIVE THERMAL PERFORMANCE ADDRESSING NEW CODE REQUIREMENTS & OPTIONS TO MEET ASHRAE 90.1\n\nJohn Kubassek and Darren Smith\nEngineered Assemblies\nApril 2015
