DESCRIPTION:Building Smart: Designing Building Enclosures in Wood-Frame Multi-Unit Construction\nJoin us for this Building Smart seminar to learn about industry best practices for designing efficient\, durable wood-frame building enclosures in new construction. Explore the latest edition of the Building Enclosure Design Guide now available online.\n \nSpeakers will discuss the behaviour of wood as a material\, the fundamentals of heat\, air and moisture control\, durability principles\, and current building code energy provisions for the building enclosure. Practical enclosure details\, assemblies and building interfaces will be presented. Learn about planning for maintenance and renewal of the building enclosure over its service life.\n \nThis seminar will focus on wood-frame assemblies for low-rise detached and semi-detached homes\, row-houses/townhomes\, and multi-unit residential buildings up to six storeys.\n \nThe session is presented in collaboration with the Building and Safety Standards Branch\, Architectural Institute of British Columbia\, Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia\, and Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC.\n\n  \nAbout the presenters\nLorne Ricketts\, MASc\, P.Eng. is a Principal and Building Science Specialist with RDH Building Science Inc. and specializes in new construction\, investigation\, research\, and education projects. Lorne co-led the development of the updated Building Enclosure Design Guide.\n \nJames Higgins\, Building Science Technologist works across several groups at RDH\, from research and investigation in the Building Science Labs division\, to building enclosure design and construction field review in the New Buildings division.
